Who We Are

Hamilton Dancesport Club is a non-profit organisation run by a committee of volunteers who are passionate about dancing and supporting the dance community. Collectively we have many years of experience in the local amateur dancesport and social ballroom dance community. This is a strong, enthusiastic and growing area in Hamilton and the Waikato.

Our membership comprises over 100 dancers from all walks of life.

  • Some belong to dance studios, while others don’t
  • Some are social dancers and some are competitive dancers
  • Some have regular dance partners while others come to dance events by themselves or form groups with like-minded dancing friends
  • Some are beginners, some have basic dancing skills, other are advanced and many others are new to dancing and are just beginning to enjoy the benefits of becoming involved in social ballroom dance.

The committee appreciates the wonderful support they receive from members in setting up venues and helping with a number of functions throughout the dance year – including at competitions and social dances.

Members are always welcome to become involved and can volunteer in a number of activities, from helping set up tables and lights, to manning the door sales or handing out competitor’s back numbers at competitions.

We are a friendly group and have a lot of fun working and relating together at these events.
